Safeguarding Training

This course aligns to City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Introduction to Safeguarding Young People from Harm, Abuse and Exploitation. 

This training will ensure you have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding policies, legislation and guidance, and includes ways you can reduce the risk of abuse, the signs and symptoms of different types of abuse, and the impact well-known child abuse and neglect cases have had on legislation.

Course Overview

Understand the concept of Safeguarding:

    • Signs and symptoms of harm, abuse or exploitation
    • Behaviours and factors that place young people at risk
    • Learn that safeguarding is everyone’s business
    • Anyone can be at risk but some factors increase the likelihood
    • Be aware of the signs and symptoms and stay alert to the possibilities that someone may be at risk

Understand ways of safeguarding:

  • Communication tools and techniques
  • Inclusive culture
  • Learn how to develop an inclusive culture
  • How providing an inclusive culture, promoting core values and using effective communications can help safeguard people

Awareness of legislations, policies and support:

  • Legislation and national policies

  • Learn that harm, abuse and exploiting others is illegal
  • Importance of providing a safe and supportive environment for disclosures.
  • Importance of acting within the limitations of your role and responsibility

Accreditation

City & Guilds Accreditation evaluates programmes against our Accreditation benchmark and provides consultant support to ensure that they meet City & Guilds Accreditation standards. Once approved, the training programmes are ‘Accredited’ and can be marketed as such for the agreed period.
